Whilst in New York we took the opportunity to visit the Empire State Building (how could we not?). From the ground I didn't find it's height that daunting, but when on the 88th floor and looking out over the New York skyline - it's actually pretty impressive. Seen in the photograph below, is Liberty Island in the distance, we knew we were going to visit it later on so that was pretty exciting to see.
This is central park which we walked past everyday to get the subway station or to walk - a lot. I think this photo can show just how cold and snowy it was over there. We walked through part of Central Park once on the way to the MET, it took about 40 minutes and we only got about half way round! It was very peaceful in the park, apart from all the joggers, and it was the first day we had blinding sunlight. Below is photo from outside the MET, not only does it show how sunny it was that morning, but actually how many taxi's there usually are in one place. Luckily these ones were only parked so we could still hears ourselves think over the blaring of car horns.
One of the highlights of the trip for me was visiting the Statue of Liberty, just because it's such an iconic image that's portrayed in film after film and we see images of it all over the place. So to see it for real was quite strange, I don't think it ever sunk in that I was really looking at the real thing and I was actually there.
